For those who need an overview, this site is basically an online haiku database. Browse
the poems, post your own, or vote for your favorites. I'd recommend registering your name
if you think you'll be posting a lot... but that is certainly not required to post.
The term "haiku" translates literally as "playful verse". Haiku are supposed to include a season word, tend to include vivid imagery, and are often about nature. It should be noted that haiku is different from senryu, although they both follow the 5-7-5 form. For now, I won't be removing 5-7-5 poems that might not qualify as haiku, but please keep the content of your poem in mind when posting.
Haiku follow the format: 5/7/5 (syllables) Note: If you don't like this site, or want to see some other haiku sites, check out the links. There are some great sites listed there. |
